I’m going on the 2016 Hagerty Maple Mille rally this weekend. I had planned to take the Cletus-Vette but I can’t find anyone who can, ahem, pass it for a safety inspection meaning it technically has no registration. Luckily, the kind folks at Hagerty have taken pity on my stupid ass and hooked me up with a loaner car for the event.

It’s not the actual car pictured and all I know is it’s a 1967 Camaro convertible with an automatic. And unlike my Corvette, this one even has windshield wipers! I’ve always passed off first-gen Camaros as the obvious choice in muscle cars but I’ll get a chance to really drive one of these for 700 miles this weekend. What do you want to know about the car? I’ll have plenty of time to drive it and answer all your questions.

I really hope it’s an SS vert and not a 250/glide

Ugh hopefully not a 230 car, the 250 was the upgrade. What a piece of crap. The damn thing drank as much gas as my 327 in my 68.

Dammit I knew that you would see it and nail me on the misstep. Edit window closed and I couldn’t change it!

Take a picture of the trim tag on the firewall. Can then decode and see how original the car is. 67 Camaro’s had the most useful trim tags.

If you have any question on first gen Camaro’s let me or crowmolly (also a super good GM expert) know. I own a 68 and have been part owners on 3 other 67's and currently the first gen originality expert for the Columbia River Camaro Club and a few Facebook groups

LOL, hey honest mistake since how many 6 cyl first gens are left out there? Most I have come across are 250 cars. I've only seen one or two 230 cars. My grandpa and I owned a 67 250/glide drop top for about a year.

Very cool! I wont see the car until Friday but I will let you know. It’s from the Hagerty collection and they really like original cars.

Nice, I like mostly original Camaro's as well. I’d make the guess it’s a non SS car but a 327ci/210hp V8 car

No shit, first I saw you give me a star and then thought

“Oh man, here it comes...”

You did not disappoint. LOL.

Crazy when you think that there were what, 14 engine options for 1969?

About that in 69, the only real changes for 69 in the motor department was the 307 replacing the 327, the short lived LM1 350 motor and then replaced with the L65 350. The 427s technically don’t count.

Yeah, it is a stretch, but they were in the system I guess.

I forget, is yours a L30/M20 car?

Yeah my 68 is a L30/M20 car, only thing not originally to my car is the transmission, had a 66 Muncie in it when I got the car. I have replaced it with a 68 M20 Muncie, instead of the crappy Saginaw
